Infrared sauna aftercare for our one-person front sauna (with salt)
By Salt Breeze Wellness | August 1, 2026
We love hearing that your sauna was already warmed up when you arrived. Now the biggest rule right after your infrared sauna session is simple: rehydrate and cool down slowly. Drink at least 16 to 24 oz of water (electrolytes are great too), sit and let your body settle for 10 to 20 minutes, then take a lukewarm shower to rinse sweat and salt. Skip alcohol and intense workouts for 12 to 24 hours.
Quick reset after your session: Water first, then a slow cool-down. In Brownsburg summers, especially those hot, humid July afternoons, you’ll usually need more fluids than you think.
Your first 24 to 48 hours after an infrared sauna with salt
Our one-person front sauna sessions run about 30 minutes, and they combine targeted infrared heat with salt therapy. That combo tends to leave you feeling calm, sweaty, and a little “wrung out” in a good way. The aftercare is what keeps that good feeling from turning into a headache or heavy fatigue later.
Right after you step out
- Drink 16 to 24 oz of water within the first hour. If you sweat a lot, add an electrolyte drink and keep sipping the rest of the day.
- Cool down for 10 to 20 minutes. Sit quietly, loosen layers, and let your heart rate come down before you rush back out to the car.
- Take a lukewarm shower after you cool down. It rinses sweat and salt off your skin without shocking your system.
What we want you to avoid
For the next 12 to 24 hours, we generally recommend you skip alcohol, heavy lifting, hot tubs, and stacking more heat on top of heat (another sauna or a steam room). If you’ve got youth sports, weekend plans, or a packed family schedule, this is the easiest way to bounce back fast instead of feeling drained.
Brownsburg note: Evening appointments are popular after an Indianapolis commute. If you’re coming straight from the car to the sauna, plan to have water ready for the drive home too.
Days 2 to 7: keep the “good sweat” benefits without overdoing it
A lot of people love the salt plus aromatherapy combo because it feels peaceful and restorative. To keep that momentum going through the week, think “steady, ” not “hard.”
- Hydrate daily: Keep water in the rotation for 24 hours, especially if you’re sweating later in the day or you work outdoors.
- Ease back into workouts: Light movement is usually fine the next day if you feel normal. If you still feel wiped out, give it another day and come back gradually.
- Mind your skin: You may feel a little drier after heat and salt. That’s normal. Don’t scrub aggressively the same night. Keep showers comfortable and quick.
- Don’t chase heat-on-heat: If you want another sauna session soon, let us know how you felt afterward and we’ll help you space it out smartly.
And yes, our space stays clean, comfortable, and relaxing because it matters. When your body’s working hard to cool itself down, the environment makes a difference.
Shower timing, moisturizer, and the simple routine that helps most people
After a far infrared sauna session with salt therapy, your skin is usually warm and a bit “open.” That’s why we like a lukewarm rinse after you cool down instead of a super-hot shower right away.
Keep it simple the rest of the day
- Pat your skin dry instead of rubbing hard.
- Apply a light, fragrance-free moisturizer if you tend to get dry.
- If you’re prone to feeling lightheaded, eat something balanced and salty enough. A sauna can shift fluids, especially in humid Brownsburg weather.
Easy stop on E Garner Road: Since we’re in the E Garner Road commercial corridor in east Brownsburg, it’s convenient to grab water or an electrolyte drink nearby and still be in and out with easy parking.
If something feels “off, ” reach out before your next infrared sauna session
Most people leave feeling calm, refreshed, and like they got a solid reset. Sometimes, if you were under-hydrated or you pushed too hard afterward, you might feel a bit headachy or extra tired. That’s usually your cue to drink more, eat a good meal, and rest.
But don’t ignore unusual symptoms. If you feel dizziness that doesn’t pass with rest, chest tightness, or anything that worries you, pause and contact your healthcare provider before coming back in.
We’ll help you dial it in: People tell us they feel welcomed as soon as they walk in, and our front desk is great about recommending a comfortable temperature. If you’re not sure what to do next time, just tell us how you felt after this session.
If you’re coming in from Brownsburg, Avon, Plainfield, Indianapolis, Pittsboro, or North Salem and you’re trying to fit wellness into a real schedule, we get it. We’ll keep it straightforward and make your session easy to repeat.
